We wanted to take a quick moment out of our day to highlight a race that we’ll be partnering with this year.
The Sprint for Springfield Schools 5k Race/Walk is an excellent fundraiser for the Springfield Education Foundation. Last year was the premier year for this race, but they managed to bring in more than 300 runners for their first events, from kids to older adults!
From a post on their website, The Springfield Education Foundation’s mission statement is as follows: “SEF strives to keep our children and our teachers on the leading edge of learning. We, like many other communities across New Jersey and the nation, are responding to increasing needs and decreased funding with creativity and commitment. The mission of SEF is to provide a centralized source of funds and resources to assist the Springfield Public School District to enhance and maintain the overall quality of education. The funds raised from this event will help support our teacher mini-grant program and our annual leadership scholarship.”
Not only does this event raise money for a great cause, but now there’s an even better reason to sign up and race – we’ll be partnering with them to provide free photos! That’s right, included in the cost of registration is free, unlimited full-resolution digital downloads of your race photos. SEF and Nuvision Action Image: together we’re redefining race photography.

Here at Nuvision we’re very excited about a new sponsorship we’ve entered into this year, and we want to take a minute to highlight that partnership.
For the 2012 season, Nuvision Action Image will be a sponsor for a triathlon and racing development team called NH Multisport Project.
From an excerpt on their Facebook page, NH Multisport Project is “a collaboration of some of the best multisport endurance athletes and businesses in the granite state designed to support the athletes to compete at the highest level possible and grow the multisport lifestyle by sharing our experience and knowledge and passion through clinics, volunteering and coaching.” What separates NH Multisport Project from other triathlon teams is that they not only race and train together, but they also bring people in the community together to promote multisport, from friends to business owners. The part of NH Multisport project that we’re most excited about is its developmental aspect. The veterans of the team work with younger athletes who are getting into racing to help them realize their full potential and compete at their highest possible level. This is something that isn’t frequently seen in other triathlon teams; generally you will see teams either made up of top-level athletes or teams of less experienced racers. Mixing them all together with a focus on veteran racers passing their knowledge and training techniques onto younger racers is something that is truly incredible to see.
NH Multisport Project is a team that was founded with an intense love for the world of triathlon and multisport racing, and it shows in all of their results as well as the way that they interact with the local community on both the personal and business levels. The founders of the team, Ryan Kelly and Amber Ferreira, are without a doubt two of the most respected top-tier athletes in our region. It’s obvious when talking to them that they are truly passionate about the goals of this team as well as the idea of providing an outlet for younger racers to develop their skills and train with some of the best athletes around.
Here at Nuvision, we believe that it’s important to be part of the racing community, not only by giving back to races but also by sponsoring developing teams and individuals in their quest for athletic greatness. The athletes of NH Multisport Project turned out some impressive results in 2011, and we’re excited to see what happens in 2012. We have no doubt that this is the beginning of a great program, and we’re excited to be able to sponsor these athletes to help them compete on the highest level possible.

Congratulations to all of those who finished the race this saturday! We were very sad to see Sunday cancelled, as you probably were as well! Nonetheless, we’re working hard on the images and they should be up around the end of the week. The wait will be worth it!

So we just announced our partnership with Spartan Race for the 2012 season – very exciting, in more ways than one.
Not only do we love shooting these races, but Spartan Race has made the decision to get onboard with our new business plan – giving images away for free to all competing athletes.
Now, that’s not as stupid of a business plan as it sounds. There’s a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes between the race organizers and us, but in the end all that really matters is that you don’t have to pay for your images after you run the race.
It’s a plan we’ve been developing for the past few years, and we hope that other races follow suit, because it’s the best for everyone involved.
As I’ve told many people, the reason we’re in this isn’t for the money – it’s because we love taking photos. It’s sort of depressing when we are going through the hundreds of thousands of great photos we have and realize that very few of those will ever be printed or enjoyed. We like to give everyone the chance to get their images from the race, and now it’s becoming possible.
Let’s put it this way… I didn’t pick the tagline “race photography redefined” just because it sounded nice. I picked it because we are changing the shape of the race photo business.

Speaking as a triathlete here, I am SO excited about our new contract with Endorfun sports and their black fly tri and big lake half marathon. The reason being is that their timberman sprint triathlon was the first race that I ever did, and made me fall in love with the sport. From that race on, I was hooked. The Mooseman half iron was the first 70.3 race I did (and probably the last, at least for a while).
Keith Jordan knows how to put on a great race, and I am very excited that we’ll have the chance to work with him, especially at his black fly triathlon. If you’re looking for a more incredible venue, it will be hard to find. The course is tough, but just remember, if its difficult for you it’s difficult for everyone else as well.
The Big Lake also holds a special place in my heart because it’s the first race I ever photographed as a professional race photographer.
The endorfun series is an excellent group of races, run by people who understand racing. Now photographed by photographers who understand racing. What’s not to love?

We’re super-excited for these races, and have had our photographers requesting to be assigned to these races ever since the races ended last year! They are incredibly well organized and fun race opportunities. The Hoppin Mad Mud Run is exactly what is sounds like, a crazy run filled with obstacles and a GIANT mud pit at the end! Our photographers had to use rain covers on their cameras to keep them from getting completely destroyed by all that mud.
Another fantastic race is the DAM Triathlon. The sheer entertainment factor that the name provides is not lost on the race directors, as many volunteers were spotted with shirts displaying the words “THIS IS MY DAM SHIRT.” It’s another great race put on by heat training and event management, the same company that does the Mud Run.
Don’t miss out on these two races this summer, and your chance to get lots of awesome photos of yourself battling through mud and sweat!
